Dev Update #311
V0.6.7 : Scene 33.
Some great progress. The posing of scene 33 is complete. I have the possibility to make an animation loop for that scene, but I'm not sure it's really worth it. I'll see if I can do with a simple 2-frame dynamic. If not, I can always come back.
The rendering has also advanced. The first 117 shots have been rendered. I should be able to finish rendering the whole scene next week.
The next step is to code the scene and bring it to phase one, so that I can send it to my proofreader in a readable form.
I'll then most likely switch to writing scene 34 while I wait for the rendering to complete. I already have a basis for the scene, and the whole thing is basically already written in my mind. I just have to get it out. It can be surprisingly easy or incredibly difficult, but I think that one will flow out nicely.
The quick sum up :
- Day 6 Part 7 will contain 3 new scenes: scenes 33, 34, and 35.
- Day 6 Part 7 will contain 1 reworked scene.
- 6489 words of new content.
- 191 shots are planned, 191 are posed, 117 are rendered
- I'm currently coding scene 33.

I am actually very excited to hear that you are planning to continue after Summer Scent is finished. I really enjoy watching artists as they move from project to project and how their work evolves.
I'm not looking for any answers to any questions here, but are you planning to do another visual novel with multiple routes? It seems like having a lot of routes multiplies the amount of work involved. I know a lot of players want this freedom of choice so I can understand why a game dev creates their games in such a way, but, as a player, I rarely have replayed a game to see how another route turns out. I guess I like that sense of closure that I get when I when I turn the last page of a good book.
Anyway, I'll be looking forward to your work next work when the time comes!
I don't know yet. I do like branching stories, and I do have some ideas, but everything will change many times before I actually start working on that next project. The only thing for sure is that if it's a branching story, it will be a simpler one.
Great to hear you had such a productive week! I hope you're feeling better, as I was quite concerned for your well being. It's remarkable to me that you have been working on this game for as long as you have, and kept with the weekly dev reports through it all.
I purchased it just over three years ago (circa dev update 130!), and I only just realized that you were already three years into the development of the game at that point!
Anyway, take care of yourself. I anxiously await the next release, but I'm happy to wait a bit longer if you need some time off.
Hey there. I started working on Summer Scent back in 2019, and it's been quite the journey so far. A journey that got way more ambitious than I expected. There has been some highs and some lows, but I'm still here working on it and I probably will still be working on it for a few years. I can already tell you that my next game will be much simpler !
